God’s Word is not that simple. There are lots of wonderful mysteries hidden in God’s heart. That is why when we come to God’s Word, the Bible, we are not dealing with some teachings, but we really need to touch the mystery that is hidden in God’s heart. Otherwise, you can just learn something general about the Bible.
Right in the beginning of the Bible, in the Book of Genesis, God did not waste any time to reveal to us the problem of this universe. Many say that Genesis 1 is a chapter concerning God’s creation. In a way, this is right. But if it only is a chapter on God’s creation, it is too short. God must not have too much to say about this creation. The only verse that really talks about the creation is verse 1. This is the only verse that talks about God’s creation. But what about the 6 days? This is something else.
The creation
Genesis 1:1 says:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
This is a very simple verse because it is not necessary for God to prove that He made the heavens and the earth. The whole universe is a proof itself. Look at this whole creation, look at yourself, at all the created things – so beautiful and wonderful. The book of Romans says the whole universe declares all about God and God’s wisdom. Look at Canada – the whole country is a piece of art. God’s creation expresses God’s glory, power and wisdom. You can see so many things here. If you are a nature lover, you will see so many plants, flowers, fragrance, shapes. I am sometimes surprised to see how God can think of so many shapes of the flowers – so beautiful.
A fool says: There is no God
Yet people don’t believe that there is a God. If I tell you, that clock is not made by anything, would you believe me? No. And a clock is such a simple thing. How about this building? If I tell you no one designed and built it, would you believe that? Everything that you have is created and designed by somebody. Don’t you think so? How about this beautiful universe, what about the beautiful flying birds, the Canadian bears? Do you think no one designs that? Psalm 14 says, only the fools say in their heart, there is no God. But if there is a God, then you better know Him and find out who He is. You cannot say there is no God.
What about all these cars on the road? Who made the cars? Nobody? After 1,000 years, the cars came into being. Would you believe me? What would you think of me? “O, he is a fool.” Look at yourself. It is the most beautiful creation. The Bible tells us, we are created in God’s image and likeness. Can you improve yourself? There is nothing to improve. Do you want to have 3 eyes? You will become a monster! How about 2 noses and 3 mouths? Why are you so perfect? Is there no God? If there is no God, would there be you? So beautiful, so smart? There is the living God. The bible didn’t have to prove anything because you are the proof that there is a God.
Believe it or not, God created the heavens and earth. You better believe it. The way God created is not like you and me when we create something. God spoke and it came into being. He can create something out of nothing. He can do that because He is God.
